Simon Pole is the author of six volumes of poetry, including the seven-poem epic cycle The Saga of Terminal City. Known for a distinctive brand of writing called Cosmic Poetry, which scales from the everyday to the spiritual heights beyond, Pole is a graduate of Harvard University, and a descendant of early Canadian poet Susie Drury.
He lives in Kingsville, Ontario, on the north shore of Lake Erie.

Hello and welcome to Cook and Crank, the Cosmic Poetry Podcast. I'm your host, Simon Pole, the Cosmic Poet. The spirit of the rover, or the Rambler, is an ancient one. Perhaps it is the fundamental human condition ever since our exile from the garden of paradise. We'll let such a man or woman speak for themselves in today's verses called a rover eye, which we will hear after the break. A rover eye A rover eye who ever roams at water's edge, where roar the foams, where dies the surf and dance my feet, where sand and ocean struggle meet A watcher eye who scans the coast, where phantom ship and restless ghost still ply the wreck lanes after death, and chilly is the whispered breath. A brooder eye who dwells to think, while others flee the churning brink for starker lands, but some day soon must I in turn desert the moon A bearer eye of twilight's felt, of shimmered scenes where borders melt, where silver light the changes lit, both there and back my soul has flit A rover eye forevermore when I depart this earthly shore, to heaven's deep will I be drawn, which ever on me singly shone.
