Hello and welcome to Cook and Crank, the Cosmic Poetry Podcast. I'm your host, Simon Pole, the Cosmic Poet. Our verses today are called the Nuisance Garden. When can a garden be a nuisance? When it's sprouting inside your house? But what exactly does that signify? Could it be the mind of the artist, whether in his brain or room at large? Perhaps. This we will find out after the break. The Nuisance Garden The flowers sprout, a garden rich, the flowers sprout in cut and ditch, the flowers sprout, but not outside, they blossom here where I abide. They force my floor, a floral mat, where once my chair and carpet sat, and wild they smell a fearsome scent, a fortune on them someone spent. Their origin, a riddle weird, and much the time since they appeared, have I it pondered, though the green engenders in me thoughts serene. The heights they plaster where they've shed a heap of petals for my bed, but from such comfort I aloof, position myself near the roof. The flowers sprout they without end, they've crowded out each other friend, who once with me here passed a noon, O how I miss the barren moon. You have just heard The Nuisance Garden from the poetry collection Poems for Ocean. I'm your cosmic poet and host, Simon Pole. Visit the website SimonPole.ca for more cosmic poetry, including the book we've just read from. We'll be back soon on the Cook and Crank Podcast with more readings from the Poems for Ocean Collection. Until then, remember, poetry is the water of life, though whiskey might be too. Goodbye.
