Hello and welcome to Cook and Crank, the Cosmic Poetry Podcast. I'm your host, Simon Pole, the Cosmic Poet. This day of snow, that is the title and topic of today's sonnet. A snow day. It is a special event, isn't it? Outside of the norm of our daily routine. But what is the quality of its specialness and what does it point to beyond the curtailment of workaday striving? The snow day's essence is what we will explore after the break. This day of snow I beseech the snow to house bound me keep on this blizzard day which releases sheets, a burying snow and ice rain which beats on all access roads and slickens them deep. Both cold in our comfort are falling flakes, and silent except for wind that might blow, and some pittering a pelting ice snow, but shelter for man a womb cocoon makes. We weigh up and down good, bad, hot and cold, and prefer and choose and savour our prize, and choosing enough in time we grow wise, though growing besides less loose and less bold, that principles are such physical things, on this day of snow my whole substance sings.
