Hello and welcome to Cook and Crank, the Cosmic Poetry Podcast. I'm your host, Simon Bole, the Cosmic Poet. God and Baseball is the title of today's poem. Baseball is a game with remarkable continuity through time for its players, teams, and fans alike. But what does this have to do with God? It all touches on time and identity, and this we will explain after the break. A ship's a ship from stern to prow, though every board's replaced, in any simple working scow or famous schooners raced, the same's a team which in years past has switched its stripes and cap, and players traded first to last, the fans still for them clap. In them endures their baseball club, though seasons come and go, through all the games the losers flub, and those the betters throw. As in them days when Jesus calls, and from our bones were knit, so in this game of bats and balls they rise again to hit. Our names our spirit with us goes through death and dark beyond, and like that ship which safely rose, his knowledge is their bond. A club's a club, and boats are boats, a man is who he is, as long as one the sameness notes and claims that he is his. And so a team, though numbers change, and men wilt from their prime, will always in this landscape strange a counter be to time. And this is the last installment of the first season of the Cook and Crank Podcast. I hope you've enjoyed listening to us over the past year.
